A Book Shelf, the largest storage item

Although many games of similar genre utilize item storage systems that keep items hidden away in storage box interfaces or storage services, Staxel is unique in that items are stored directly on furniture and are always visible.

Controls[]

Tutorial icon This article or section is a stub. Please feel free to add more information.
Additional comments: Needs controller commands

Items can be placed on various furniture by left-clicking (interacting) with them while holding the item that is to be stored. This puts a small version of the item onto or into the furniture. All of the items in the stack will be placed unless the player holds Ctrl down while left-clicking, which places only one item from the stack.

Items can be removed by right-clicking the item. All of the items in the stack will be retrieved unless the player holds Ctrl down while right-clicking, which removes only one item from the stack.

The player can split stacks within their inventory by right-clicking the stack, which splits the stack in half.

Storage furniture[]

Storage type[]

Additional comments: Need more info and to list all furniture (use specific names, if you know them)!

Various furniture items are meant to be used for storage or display, allowing more than one item to be placed onto or into them. Some furniture or blocks only have room for one item stack to be placed; these furniture items will display the stored item at a much larger size than furniture items that allow multiple items to be placed.

  • Bookcases
  • Shelves
  • Some tables and countertops
  • Merchant booths in the Festival Grounds
  • Wooden milk crates
  • Wooden crates

To break and retrieve the storage-type furniture themselves, it is recommended that players aim for the side or bottom of the furniture, rather than the shelf items are stored on. If the storage area is mistakenly targeted, then the player's Hammer(s) will be placed onto the storage surface.

The bookcases and countertops around town can be used as free storage space or be decorated with items of the player's choosing, though the player cannot break furniture in a protected space unless the protection is turned off.

Docking type[]

Specific furniture allow other items to be docked on them.

  • Some end tables

It is not possible to visually differentiate furniture that allow docking without a Magnifying Glass, though the Shipping Catalogue will list whether the item is docking or non-docking. The Magnifying Glass will not identify items that are for sale in shops, such as the General Store or the Murmur merchants' carts.

Placing items on furniture with no docking[]

Some items must be placed on non-docking furniture, such as certain counters and desks, in order to function or fulfill building requirements. (meaning, said item need to be placed as normal block, not in docked state) When you place an item on a non-docking furniture, it will be placed as a normal block and not miniature version item

Items placed on non-docking furniture must be removed with a Hammer just like normal block. ? ]
